The Heat Pump Setup page guides you through specifying your heat pump settings and preferences. The page functions like a wizard in that it walks you through each of the settings and preferences you need to set up your heat pump. Simply read the description on the page and answer the corresponding questions. When you click the Next button, the page refreshes to ask you for more information until you finish the heat pump setup process.
The goal of heat pump optimization is to minimize your energy costs while ensuring your home remains at a comfortable temperature. When setting up your heat pump, you specify both your cost vs. energy use goals and the minimum temperature you will allow your home to reach until optimization automatically turns off and your heat pump remains under your own manual control. The Consumer Portal uses this information to help you take advantage of lower cost energy or the use of more green energy, when available. You will also be able to manually turn off optimization at any time to ensure your home remains particularly comfortable (for example, on extremely cold days or when you are hosting an event).
