The Set Workday or Away Schedule page guides you through setting your workday schedule. This schedule is for the days of the week when you are away from home for most of the day and therefore can save on energy costs by not heating or cooling your home during that time. It is a basic schedule to help get you started. You will be able to change it and build upon it as needed later.
Note: On this page you simply set the times and temperatures for a schedule to use on days that you identify as workdays. You will select the actual days of the week (such as Monday or Tuesday) that you identify as workdays later in the wizard process.
Example of a workday schedule
The following targets show how a workday schedule might be set up during colder months:
- Target #1: The first target of the day may be when you wake up in the morning and want to make sure your home is warm. You therefore might set the target #1 time to 5:00am and the temperature to 70 degrees. This will give your home an hour to heat up before you get out of bed at 6:00am.
- Target #2: The second target of the day may be when you go to work for the day and want to lower your heat to save on heating costs. You therefore might set the target #2 time to 7:30am and the temperature to 62 degrees. This will turn down the heat 30 minutes before you leave at 8:00am.
- Target #3: The third target of the day may be when you leave work and want to return to a warm home. You therefore might add a target #3, set the time to 5:00pm, and set the temperature to 72 degrees. This will give your home an hour to heat up before you arrive home at 6:00pm.
- Target #4: The final target of the day may be when you go to sleep for the night and want to lower your heat. You therefore might add a target #4, set the time to 10:00pm, and set the temperature to 65 degrees. This will turn down the heat 30 minutes before you are in bed at 10:30pm.
- Remember, you have not yet specified the actual days of the week (such as Monday or Tuesday) for this schedule. You simply specified the schedule for a category called workdays. You will specify which days of the week are your workdays later in the wizard process.
