How to Create an Editorial Group

An editorial group is a set of information that defines the properties of ads running under a campaign, including in which locations the ads will run, the keywords potential customers might search for that could trigger the ads, and the content that is included in the ads.

What you should know:

  • Depending on your reseller account, WebVisible might perform this procedure for the campaigns created by your organization.

Before you begin:

  • You must first create a campaign for the new editorial group, if one does not already exist.

  • Review our best practices to help ensure the editorial group adheres to ad network standards.

Procedure:

  1. Search for the campaign you are creating the editorial group for, and then click the campaign ID link for that campaign in the search results list. The Campaign Maintenance page opens, with the Campaign tab active. (You can skip this step if you are creating the editorial group at the same time that you create the campaign.)

  2. Click the Editorial Grps tab.

  3. Click the Add a New Editorial Group link. The page refreshes with a form to set up the editorial group.

  4. In Section 1. Enter General Information, provide the following general information:

    • In the Editorial Group Name box, specify a unique name for the editorial group. If you provide an editorial group name that the campaign is already using, the system prompts you to enter a different name.

    • By default, the Active check box is selected so that the editorial group will be active. Clear this check box if you are not yet ready for the editorial group to be active.

  5. In Section 2. Select Targeting, select the appropriate language in the Language box and the match type you want to use in the Match Type box. You can select from the following match types:

    • Broad allows search queries that are similar to a keyword to result in a match.

    • Exact allows only search queries with the exact words as your keyword to result in a match.

    • Phrase allows search queries that contain the keyword in the same order to result in a match.

  6. In Section 2. Select Targeting, specify the following settings for the editorial group:

  7. In Section 3. Define Default Content, specify the ad title and text for the editorial group.

  8. In Section 4. Preview Individual Media Provider Content, review and/or customize the ads as they will appear on the ad networks:

  9. Click OK.

  10. Click Save.
